Literature Text

Waking up early in the morning, you cracked your fingers that were hurting from the day before. Your hair fell over your shoulders while you rubbed the sleep off your eyes and scanned the room to find your two friends sleeping soundly next to you.

Today was the first day of your new role, the role of playing the loving girlfriend. You had never played this role before though and the more you thought about your new task, the weirder you felt.

Should I kiss him?
Or...send him shy glances?
Maybe I should go and tell him that I love him...
Or...dammit...what should I do?

Shifting to the edge of the bed, you planted your feet on the ground, put your hands on your knees and heaved yourself off the bed towards your closet. Titling your head to the sides, you let the last bones crack into place before you stretch out your arm and grab a neatly folded shirt and dress yourself with it, followed by your jacket, trousers, belts and boots.
Glancing over your shoulder, you let your eyes wander over your body that got reflected in the mirror.
Feathering with your hands through your hair, you decided to let them down today and not to tie them up in a high ponytail.
Straightening your uniform, you smiled to yourself. Hair down really suited you well and with your perfectly instance uniform you looked like a real soldier, like you always wanted to.
Glancing at the clock on your table, you ran out of your room, towards the kitchen to bring the Corporal a fresh tea to tell him good morning.
Greeting your friends that past you on your way to the kitchen, you smiled at them, waved your hands and sometimes acknowledged them with a small nod from your side.
Finally in the kitchen, you furrowed your brows at the different sorts of tea in front of you.
Folding your hands behind your back, you strolled back and forth the cupboards, you took one hand in front of your body and painted meaningless circles with your index finger in the air. Puffing out your cheeks you closed your eyes, turned on your heel a couple of times and outstretched your hand to grab the first tea in your reach.
Feeling how something brushed your fingers, you snatched your slim fingers around it and tried to pull it out of the cupboard. Strange was, the tea box yelped.
Peeking an eye open, the other one followed soon as you saw that you had grabbed the Commander’s polo-tie. Your cheeks glowed a dark shade of red as you loosened your grip and pulled your arm close to your chest, your hand curled up in a fist. Your other hand found a place on your cheek as you looked up at your Commander, your eyes tinted with embarrassment and angst.

Chuckling at your stance, Erwin straightened his tie before he looked down at you, a genuine smile plastered on his face.
Letting your hands fall to your sides, you immediately performed a proper salute.
“I’m so sorry, Commander!” you babbled out with your eyes shut tight.
“It’s okay, (f/n).” he answered while his hand patted your head. As your shoulders fell and the tension seemed to leave your body, you returned the smile which the Commander offered to you.
“Anyway, why are you already in the kitchen? And why were you spinning around?”

Sheepishly scratching the back of your neck, you shut your eyes and smiled at him with a pretty awkward smile.
“I...I was....dancing?”
“And I’m as tall as Levi. C’mon, (f/n). Or do you want to lie to your superior?”
“No! Sorry. Can you promise not to tell anyone?” you answered while you fixated your gaze on the ground beneath your feet. Nervously kicking one of your feet lightly against the floor, you fiddled with your fingers before you looked up at him.
“Promise, as long as it isn’t anything important about titans. In this case I have to tell it to the King.”
“No no.” you waved your hands in front of your chest. “Nothing like this...more like...something inappropriate..”
Arching his brow, Erwin nodded before he gestured with his hands that you should continue.
“Ehm...I wanted to make tea for the midge- I mean Le- Dammit...I mean the Corporal.”
“So?” Erwin asked slightly surprised. “And why, if I may ask?”
“To apologize for yesterday. To apologize for throwing my soup in his face when he called me a brat and for anything else I did.”
“I don’t think one tea is enough.” he laughed before he grabbed your shoulder and slightly shook you.
“But it’s a beginning.” he continued. “And why were you spinning around?”
“I don’t know what tea he likes...”

Turning his head to the side, he grabbed a little box from the lowest cupboard and placed it in your hand.
“Thanks, but how did you know it’s his favourite?”
“It’s on the lowest shelf, he can’t reach any higher, that’s why I know it.”

Pressing a fist against your lips you tried to stifle your laugh before you thanked your Commander and turned around to set water on the stove.

“And by the way, I still don’t believe you. Tell me when you need help in flirting with him.”

Feeling how your cheeks turned red, you turned your head and shrank against the counter before you managed a shy nod. Chuckling, the Commander left you alone with your thoughts.

’Good, it looks like I’m a good actor.’

You smiled to yourself before you turned around and wanted to lean against the counter, instead your back hit nothing than air and you fell back and landed with your back on the windowsill.

Grunting from the pain, you opened your eyes and rose from your uncomfortable position. Turning on your heel, you lent with your arms on the windowsill and smiled out the window, towards the sun that greeted you this morning. As the wind decided to blow by and mess with your hair, you closed your eyes and dreamed of a world far away. Far away with no titans in sight, somewhere with you and Levi....wait WHAT?

No!
Abruptly opening your eyes you shook your head. Burying your head in your arms, you let a long sigh past your lips before you heard the whistle of the teapot, announcing you that the water for Corporal-stick-in-the-butt was finally boiling.
In this moment, a little blue flower catched your attention and you bent out of the window to reach it. Furrowing your brows in concentration, you stretched your fingers to the limit until you repeatedly grabbed nothing but air. Sighing you pushed yourself a little farther out of the window and finally grabbed the flower.

Smiling to yourself, you put the flower next to the hot teapot before you grabbed a small cup, added a little sugar, the tealeaves and poured the water in the cup.
The window you had forgotten to close, let through a pretty heavy puff and blew your flower around the air.

Jumping off the floor, you grabbed the flower before it landed in an unknown corner. Stupid was just that you still had the teapot in your hand, and a good amount of boiling water spilled out and ran down your legs.
Smiling at the flower, you suddenly felt a suffocating pain on your legs, threw the teapot in the sink and screamed out loud.
And there all the birds left the nearby trees and flew in the sky.
Crying you sifted the leaves out of the tea, put everything on a plate, along with your blue shimmering flower, and ran to your room.

Throwing your pants off your body, you quickly grabbed a new pair, but as soon as a piece of fabric touched your skin, you winced.
Searching in your drawer for a bandage, you pulled the bandage out of the drawer, massaged a nearby salve on your thigh and wrapped your legs in the bandage.

You had no other option than changing into your civilian clothes. Training would be impossible and the feeling of your harness pressing against your inner thigh wasn’t a massage either.
Pulling out one of your few dresses, you threw your shirt on your bed, put the dress on and finished your appearance with your jacket.
Forcing a smile on your lips, you grabbed the plate and went straight to the Corporal.

Knocking on his door, you waited in front of his office for his invitation. Hearing his voice from behind the door, you pushed your back against the door and opened it. Stepping in his office, you shut his door with you heel as you smiled at him.

’Weird. I’m smiling at the Corporal...’

Trying to show as less pain as possible, you made your way to the Corporal, your walk accompanied with your swaying hips.

“What do you want, (l/n)?”
“Bring you your favourite tea.” you smiled while you placed the plate in front of him.
Setting his pen aside, Levi eyed the tea in front of him, then you and then the tea again.
“Don’t you see that I have a lot to do?” he asked, his hand gesturing at the piles of paperwork in front of him.
“A little break won’t hurt.....Corporal.” it was difficult for you to call him Corporal and not midget, dwarf or Humanity’s-smallest-warrior-with-a-sexual-attachment-to-his-duster.
As he heard his proper title fall from you lips, he raised one of his brows before he grabbed the cup and held it to his lips. Taking a little sip, he let his hand sink before his eyes flickered to you.
For one moment you really believed that you had done everything right, but then the ever so stoic Corporal outstretched his arm and the tea got splashed on your dress. Worse enough was that your dress sticked on your body now, even worse was that your dress got transparent.

“It’s too cold and look at the mess you made. Mop the floor, now.”

Nodding, you tried to suppress the anger that boiled within you and grabbed the nearby mop, almost broke it in two as you held it, and mopped the floor.

’Stupid dwarf! I want to ram this mop up his ass!’

While you were silently cursing, Levi eyed every movement you did....and how much the transparent dress revealed.
Finally done, you lent against the mop and still smiled at him. You outwardly smiled at him, inwardly you wanted to grab him and shake him until candy falls out of him. The size of a piñata he already had.

“Why are you wearing a dress?” he asked, the same bored expression on his face like usually.
“I burnt my leg while I was preparing your tea.” you answered with a honey-coated voice.
“When you are too stupid to make tea, why do you fight against titans?”

Your mouth hung agape at his statement. Putting the mop back on his place, you carefully placed the cup back on the plate, grabbed the flower and left his office without another word. Slamming his door shut, you went to your room where Vanessa and Mai just woke up.

Jumping on your bed, you burrowed your face in your blanket as you tried to suppress the sobs.

“Morning (f/n), what’s wrong?” Mai said as she lent down from her bunk above of yours and looked at you, her shoulder long hair hanging in the air.
“Midget is a shit eating bastard.” you cursed while you burrowed your head further in the sheets.
“What did he do?” Vanessa asked from her bed.
“I make tea, burn my leg and everything he does is spills the tea on me and insults me.” you complained, trying to control your shaking voice. Both of them jumped off her bed and sat beside you, patting your back while they exchanged sympathetic looks.

“C’mon,” Vanessa spoke “I know how to handle this situation. Leave the next move to me, trust me.”
